10 Different ways of praying
Jan 4th, 2008 by admin

People have many different ways of praying. Sometimes we sing or dance our prayers and sometimes we keep silence. Sometimes we look to clergy or books for words and sometimes we talk to God freely, saying whatever comes to mind. Sometimes prayers are enacted, such as in a protest or service project. To understand spirituality, we must remember that we do not live in individuated cocoons.
In fact, we all live in vibrant cultures which are composed of elements such as historical heritage, language, artistic expression, legal institutions, religious understanding and expression, education and relationships. In other words, the phenomenon we call spirituality is shaped and formed by what we call culture … the diverse cultures into which we are born, educated and formed.

very powerful images!
stumbled on your blog today and glad i did. thanks for this wonderful post. perhaps you will expand the idea of the many ways of praying to even more cultures and spiritual paths … I believe the more we understand each other and each other’s spiritual beliefs, the more likely we are to have peace in our world hopefully soon. thanks for your part in the conversation.

I have a question - Friends and I were at Dinner and saw a couple who seemed to be praying or some other ritual. They looked to be from possibly Tibet or there abouts. They sat across from each other, closed their eyes and held each others noses. We were just curious as to what the custom is.
This is exactly how I pictured the word “prayer” to look, individual, unique, and heartfelt. Thank you for this inspiring post. These photographs are incredible. It has lifted my spirits today!
Take notice that everyone of them prays to the unseen and mythological!
Its time that one of the Gods showed him or her self isn’t it?
