Diddy's Sex Trafficking Trial Begins with High Stakes and Key Witnesses

Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial has officially begun with jury selection in New York City. The high-profile case is expected to last approximately eight weeks and has already generated significant attention due to both the serious nature of the charges and the notable witnesses involved.

Cassie Ventura, Diddy's former partner who is currently pregnant, was spotted in New York City just days before the trial's commencement. Ventura is scheduled to serve as the government's lead witness in the case. Her testimony is anticipated to be crucial for prosecutors as they present their case against the music mogul.

However, the prosecution is facing challenges with another key witness. Prosecutors admitted that "Victim 3," one of the alleged victims in the case, has been uncooperative despite being subpoenaed to testify. This development could potentially impact the prosecution's strategy, particularly regarding claims made in their opening statements.

The financial burden of the trial is also substantial. According to Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor with West Coast Trial Lawyers, Diddy's legal defense costs could exceed $10 million. This estimate reflects both the complexity of the case and the size of his legal team, which includes prominent attorneys Linda Moreno, Mark Geragos, and Tina Glandian.

As the trial progresses, both the testimony of cooperative witnesses like Ventura and the prosecution's ability to present their case without "Victim 3" will likely shape the outcome of this high-stakes legal battle.
