Jamie Lee Curtis Battles Unauthorized AI Ad Featuring Her Likeness
Jamie Lee Curtis recently took a public stand against Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg after discovering an unauthorized AI-generated advertisement featuring her likeness on Facebook. The actress called out Zuckerberg directly on Instagram, demanding the removal of what she described as a "totally AI fake commercial."
"I want you to take down a completely bogus, AI generated, false endorsement using my name and likeness," Curtis wrote in her Instagram post addressed to Zuckerberg. Following her public shaming, Meta promptly removed the offending advertisement.
This incident highlights the growing concern over unauthorized use of celebrity likenesses in AI-generated content, a problem that has also affected other high-profile actors like Tom Hanks and Scarlett Johansson.
In other news, Curtis recently reflected on her career trajectory during a "60 Minutes" interview, revealing that director John Landis fought for her casting in "Trading Places" against the studio's wishes. She shared that Landis had a quirky habit of "sticking gum in my mouth every day" on set. The role proved pivotal for Curtis, leading to significant parts in films like "A Fish Called Wanda" and "True Lies," which helped establish her career beyond the horror genre.
