Netflix Expands Content with Hitchcock Classics and New Fear Street Installment
Netflix is set to bolster its streaming library with a collection of Alfred Hitchcock's iconic films, available to U.S. subscribers beginning June 1. The collection will include masterpieces such as "Vertigo" and "Rear Window," bringing classic cinema to the platform's extensive catalog.
In conjunction with the digital release, Netflix is hosting a six-week Hitchcock screening series at its Paris Theater in New York City from May 16 to June 29, demonstrating the company's continued investment in theatrical exhibition despite CEO Ted Sarandos' previous comments on the movie-theater business.
Meanwhile, the streaming giant is expanding its horror offerings with a new addition to the R.L. Stine-based Fear Street franchise. Netflix recently released the trailer for "Fear Street: Prom Queen," the fourth film adaptation in the series. Set in 1988 at Shadyside High, the movie transforms a prom night into a bloody affair as students mysteriously disappear.
"Fear Street: Prom Queen Is Coming" is scheduled for release on May 23, 2025, continuing Netflix's successful adaptation of Stine's popular book series. The Fear Street franchise has become a notable fixture in Netflix's original film lineup, appealing to horror fans and nostalgic viewers alike.
