Netflix Announces New Shows and Renewals at 2025 Upfront Event

Netflix revealed several major programming announcements during its 2025 Upfront presentation in New York City on May 15, showcasing the streaming giant's commitment to expanding its live and competition series offerings.

'Star Search' Reboot Coming to Netflix

In a significant move into live programming, Netflix announced a reboot of the classic talent competition "Star Search," which will feature real-time viewer voting. The series will air twice weekly and include eliminations across four categories.

"The original show helped launch the careers of major stars like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears," Netflix noted during the announcement. The revival will be produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment with Jason Raff involved in the production.

Netflix also confirmed that the reality competition series "Million Dollar Secret," hosted by Peter Serafinowicz, has been renewed for a second season. This renewal signals the show's success on the platform and further strengthens Netflix's growing slate of competition programming.

The announcements came during Netflix's star-packed Upfront event, which featured appearances by Charlize Theron, Jude Law, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, and "Stranger Things" stars Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo, among others.
