Preity Zinta Speaks Out on Privacy, Gender Bias, and Personal Loss
Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta recently engaged with fans during a candid Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter), addressing several personal topics including her children's privacy, gender discrimination in sports, and a heartbreaking personal loss.
The actress firmly established boundaries regarding photographs of her children, Jai and Gia, whom she shares with husband Gene Goodenough. When asked what brings out her "Kali avatar" (fierce side), Zinta revealed: "When people ask me to take photos with my kids or ask for photos when I'm eating, in the loo, gym, or with my family having a private moment."
Zinta also confronted gender bias head-on when a user suggested that cricketer Glenn Maxwell's poor IPL performance might be connected to "not marrying her." She responded forcefully to the sexist remark: "Give me the respect I deserve," while highlighting the broader issue of gender discrimination women face in corporate and sports environments.
In a poignant revelation during the same online interaction, Zinta shared a deeply personal connection to one of her most beloved films, "Kal Ho Naa Ho." The actress disclosed that she lost her first love in a car accident while filming the movie, making its emotional scenes particularly meaningful to her. The Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan co-starrer, directed by Nikkhil Advani, remains significant in her filmography due to this personal resonance.
