Smokey Robinson Denies Sexual Assault Allegations in $50 Million Lawsuit

Motown legend Smokey Robinson is facing serious sexual assault allegations after four former housekeepers filed a $50 million lawsuit against him in Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit alleges that Robinson repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped the women over a period spanning nearly two decades, from 2006 to 2024, while they worked at his home.

The plaintiffs, identified as Jane Does 1-4 in court documents, have made specific claims of repeated assaults. The lawsuit also names Robinson's wife, Frances Gladney Robinson, alleging she had knowledge of prior misconduct.

Robinson's attorney, Christopher Frost, has strongly denied the allegations, characterizing them as "vile, false allegations" and an attempt to "extract money from an American icon."

"This lawsuit is nothing more than a shakedown of an American icon based on vile, false allegations," Frost stated. The legal team has indicated they will seek dismissal of the case.

The lawsuit represents a significant legal challenge for the 84-year-old music pioneer, known for his work with The Miracles and his successful solo career at Motown Records. Robinson has three children: Berry and Tamla from his first marriage to Claudette Rogers Robinson, and son Trey from a previous relationship.
