'The Last of Us' Season 2 Episode 4 Unveils Major Character Developments
The Last of Us Season 2's fourth episode, titled "Day One," delivered significant plot revelations as Ellie and Dina navigate the dangerous streets of Seattle while developing their relationship amid the post-apocalyptic landscape.
The episode marked a pivotal shift in Ellie and Dina's relationship, featuring their first intimate scene together while also revealing two major secrets: Ellie's immunity to the Cordyceps infection and Dina's pregnancy. These revelations came as the pair encountered dangers from both the warring factions—the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and the Seraphites—as well as infected.
Isabela Merced, who portrays Dina, discussed the significance of these moments in recent interviews: "There's a loving devotion to Ellie," Merced explained about her character's commitment despite the complicated circumstances they face.
The episode also featured a notable flashback scene with a surprise cameo from Josh Peck, who appeared as a FEDRA soldier delivering what viewers described as an NSFW monologue before being killed by Isaac Dixon, played by Jeffrey Wright. This backstory provided context for the faction conflicts that Ellie and Dina encounter in Seattle.
The installment represents a significant advancement in the main plot following Joel's death earlier in the season, setting up future storylines while exploring how relationships can develop even amid apocalyptic circumstances.
