Rapper Tory Lanez Stabbed in California Prison Attack

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was attacked and stabbed multiple times at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on Monday, May 12, 2025.

According to reports, Lanez (whose legal name is Daystar Peterson) was allegedly stabbed 14 times, including wounds to his back and head, by fellow inmate Santino Casio. The attack reportedly resulted in collapsed lungs, and Lanez was immediately hospitalized at a medical facility in Bakersfield.

Authorities have identified the alleged attacker as Santino Casio, an inmate serving a life sentence for murder who has a history of prison violence. The incident occurred in a prison housing unit, though some reports suggest it happened in the prison yard.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has confirmed that Lanez is now in "fair condition" and reportedly "in good spirits" while recovering from his injuries. The Kern County District Attorney's Office is investigating the incident alongside prison officials.

Lanez was convicted in 2022 for the shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion and is currently appealing his conviction while serving his sentence at the medium-security facility.
